One of our leaders, Balan and his family, have moved into this community to serve the underprivileged people of Dematagoda area in the inner city of Colombo. In order to reach the people in this area who are having poor economic and social backgrounds and to raise their dignity, Missioneer has established a center where we will be providing Basic Computer training, English education, and other related subjects that are necessary for the upliftment of many children who have dropped out from schools. The couple also reaches out to families of different faiths, in the surrounding area, with a hope to bring them to a deeper relationship with God.
Church
Balan invites people from different faiths in the slum community to come and taste the love of God every Sunday. As its the beginning, currently, an average of 8 people attend his services regularly. Further, he holds a healing and prayer time on Wednesdays.
Children's Club
Balan and his wife are so passionate about engaging and ministering to children. They facilitate the Children’s Club on Saturdays and currently 25 – 35 children attend their club regularly. His wife, in addition to facilitating the club with Balan, helps him by guiding and helping girls who are stepping into their teenages.
